Conclusion

I analysed 6 music videos from different decades and have research on codes and conventions of pop/glam rock genre.

• Elvis Presley –  Jailhouse Rock
• The Beatles – Strawberry Fields Forever
• Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody
• David Bowie – Space Oddity
• ABBA – Money, Money, Money
• Elton John – I’m still standing

All six of them helped me to gain a deeper understanding of the use of traditional codes and conventions of music videos from specific decades. When I will start the production process I need to make sure that my video shots, settings and costumes will be able to represent the right genre of the music videos and of the song.

During my research process, I could better understand that I want to keep working and keep developing the idea of 1950’s – 1980’s. However, I decided to stop on the latest time 1980’s because I find it more interesting for the audience. I believe that I will be able to make a music video that will contain all codes ad conventions of 1980’s and will be interesting for young audience. In my opinion, this theme will be very unique and will be successful among other famous, well known music genres, because of its rarity. Moreover, during my research process, I already had a few ideas for the settings and costumes form the researched videos. I was inspired by a few elements in all 6 videos and would love to use them later in my project.
