Sir Elton John is an English singer, songwriter, pianist, and composer. John has sold more than 300 million records, making him one of the world’s best – selling music artists. He has more than fifty Top 40 hits, as well as seven consecutive number-one albums in the United States, four of which peaked at number two and nine of which reached number one.

His personal life
Music Video focuses a lot on the relationship of Elton John and his ex partner. His sexuality is represented throughout the entire music video and sometimes we can even see hidden details like the pride flag on his hat. However, if we will go more deeper into this topic, the pride flag didn’t even exist until 1983. It wasn’t recognisable by a lot of people until 1980’s because of how much people were against the topic. Elton John came out as a gay long after this music video and right now he is very happy living with his husband and two kids.
The singer was 29 years old and the international superstar when he told Rolling Stone in 1976 that he was bisexual. But in 1992, at age 45, he was quoted in the same magazine saying he was “quite comfortable being gay.”
Now 72, John tells Variety that he was 23 when he actually realized he was gay. “I got off to a very slow start,” he says with a laugh. “I was like the tortoise and the hare, and then suddenly the tortoise overtook the hare, and I made up for lost time.”
We can’t know for sure if the song is dedicated to a woman or to a man,. However we known that the song “I’m still standing” was written after a hard breakup with a loved person. Furthermore, watching the music video now after so many years, we see and understand these hidden details about Elton’s sexuality, when back in the days people didn’t know it.
This is a promotional video for the “the sun” tabloid, where audience can see the life story of Elton John with his piano. The piano is a representation of the artist’s image and is a very important object in his life/career. If I chose Elton John as the artist that I will work with, I think it is important for me not to forget about it during the production process.
Elton John has achieved numerous things in his career not only songs. He has composed songs, in collaboration with lyricists Sir Tim Rice, Lee Hall, and Bernie Taupin, for musical thatres and performances like “The Lion King”.
Music may be Elton John’s first passion, but another abiding interest runs it a close second: sport. Elton’s most publicised involvement with the sporting world is his enduring connection with Watford Football Club. It was the club he supported as a boy and of which he later became Chairman, guiding it to the highest echelon of the professional game in England. In 2012, he founded Rocket Sports Management, with the aim of guiding emergent sporting stars through their careers, whatever the highs and lows.
Elton also helps many charities and foundations. While functioning as separate organisations, both the Elton John AIDS Foundation in the UK and the USA pursue the common goals of empowering people infected, affected and at risk of HIV/AIDS. MUSIC VIDEO COMPETITION
Elton John created a competition “The Cut” for his three music videos, which can later become the official videos for Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer and Bennie and the Jets. The open brief invited ideas for each video, each given a different creative medium: animation, live-action and choreography.
Participants could choose any song and create a music video, which later was posted on Elton John’s Youtube channel.
Elton John said at the announcement at Cannes Film Festival: “I’ve been moved and amazed by these re-imaginings of our songs and pretty humbled by the process overall. The future of creativity is clearly collaborative, fusing art and technology and it’s been fantastic to open up our work to the next generation of creative talent and to share that process with the world on YouTube.”
The reason why I decided to talk about the competition is because I won’t have any problems with the copyrights on a platform like “YouTube”. As there are many uploaded videos for this competition already, I believe that my music video won’t have any problems on the future.
